The Maison Roche de Bellene Meursault Les Clous 2018 has a medium body with a slight oak touch and balanced acidity. Immediately noticed are notes of grapefruit, apricot, lemon butter, almond and hay. The Meursault is fresh and clean with a beautifully integrated oak influence and a lingering finish.
Maison Roche de Bellene was created by Nicolas Potel as his negociant business, following the establishment of Domaine de Bellene in 2007.
Having spent his childhood at the family estate in Volnay , Domaine de la Pousse D’Or, and then trained with Domaine Matrot and Roumier in Burgundy as well as spending years working abroad with Moss Wood, Leuwin Estate and Mount Mary in Australia and Tom Delingher in California.
His connections through the work his father did at Domaine de la Pousse D’Or has given Nicolas unique access to producers and wine that allows him to create wines that are fresh and appealing in youth, yet age extremely well. He works with no chemical for pesticides and leaves nature to influence the grapes and wine without his interference. This gives the wine a purity and clarity that translates into the perfect expression of each individual vineyard site.
