Grenache or Garnacha is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in France and Spain, where the grape most likely originated. Thriving in hot, dry vineyards where less hardy grapes would struggle, and grows old very gracefully in bottle. High in alcohol, this grape is also important for the production of excellent rosés and fortified wines, too. In Australia, Grenache is the 'G' in the Rhône-inspired GSM wines (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre).

Grenache appeals to many wine lovers due to its intense fruity and herbal notes. The type of berries present in Grenache wines are strawberries, black cherries, and raspberries, with hints of cinnamon and anise, as well.
