Vintage Champagne
For us at Oddbins, Vintage Champagne is embodied by the eternal words of a certain Mr. George Michael, “if you’re gonna do it, do it right, right?” You see, Vintage Champagne is the cream of the crop, the crème de la crème, the wham, bam thank you mam of sparkling wine. Not only is it from, perhaps, the most famous wine region in the world, they are also only made in the best years and is aged for a minimum of 2 years longer than the non-vintage. Vintage Champagne tends to have more intense stone fruit and brioche aromas, with a creamier texture than their non-vintage counter parts.
They don’t have to cost an arm and a leg though; wines like the Heidsieck Gold Top, H. Blin and Drappier vintages are all under £40. Then again, if you’re looking to spend a bit more on something truly special, this might just be the place to do it. Champagnes such as Dom Pérignon and Roederer’s Cristal practically define the fine wine world and can all be found here
