Carménère has been called many things, the lost grape of Bordeaux and the Count of Monte Cristo to name but a few, it is rare, however, for a Carménère to be described as ‘ultra-premium.’ For whatever reason, there are a great number of excellent value Carménère but few examples that could be considered in the top-tier of wines.
The CA1 however, is another matter. Grown at the feet of the Andes Mountains, grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with the utmost care before spending 14 months in French barrels. The result is a wine with a fresh and fruity profile, with intense aromas of red fruits and soft herbal notes that are classic for the varietal. It has a good volume on the palate, with round and sweet tannins that are well balanced with a full-body and tight structure.
