The Oddbins Take

Upon approaching the Zind-Humbrecht Gewürztraminer Goldert Grand Cru, taking in its traditional label and bottle shape, use of noble grape from a Grand Cru vineyard, made by the 16th generation of winemakers in this family, in a classic late harvest style known locally as Vendange Tardive, you might be forgiven for thinking Zind-Humbrecht were rather antiquated.

Illustrating once and for all you shouldn't judge a winemaker by his label (well, you can a bit, there’s a lot of really important information on there after all); for Domaine Zind-Humbrecht are true trail-blazers in Alsace. Focused upon identifying the best soil and grape variety matches in their region and growing vines under biodynamic principals, they strike a perfect balance between modern winemaking and 500 years of familial tradition!
