The Oddbins Take

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked!" Good old Allan Ginsberg, he wasn't half melodramatic. We get it, you and your friends partied pretty hard for the 50s but just because you're up at 3 in the morning discussing jazz doesn't mean you're all fractured geniuses!

What those raucous hipsters needed was a nice midweek session pale ale, a beer for a nice catch up before bed at a reasonable hour. It's a shame Gipsy Hill didn't start making Beatnik pale ale until 2013, cunningly light and showcasing US-hops above an uncomplicated malt base, it shows how much flavour can be achieved in a sub-4% beer and could've been just the beer to calm those Beatnik boys down!

Next week we'll be discussing Burroughs and why he named his son William S Burroughs the 3rd… Class dismissed!

About The Brewery

Nestled at the base of Gipsy Hill in South London, since 2013, Gipsy Hill have been brewing full flavoured, moreish brews of the highest standard. Every decision they make is led by improving quality, pushing innovation and engaging with the community.

Their core beers are available all year round and with a focus on sub-5% abv brews, are the perfect partner for a midweek catch up. Gipsy Hill’s specials on the other hand, are experimental and seasonal brews that push the limits of their knowledge and equipment. In 2018, Gipsy Hill launched a small but progressively expanding barrel project. They only use natural, quality ingredients and take an uncompromising approach to the best brewing process.
Drink it and talk to people.
