The Oddbins Take

They Say

One of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland – and its most easterly – Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery) has been making its mighty malt in Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen, since 1797. This is the very first release of Glen Garioch fully matured in virgin North American white oak casks and is an extraordinarily unique whisky. A velvet explosion of rich buttery malt, chocolate and spice leads on to tangy orange and ginger marmalade, treacle syrup and rich chocolate cake. The finish is long and warming, with notes of barley sugar and spice.

We Say

This is a hearty, honeyed and homely malt that is rescued from being saccharine by brilliantly tangy orange marmalade and spicy ginger. Alter Ego: Jools Oliver; without a doubt, a homemaker with heart, who can handle the heat of the kitchen and has just a hint of fieriness as she looks at the blonde character taking center-stage.
