The Oddbins Take

Like the epic poem Beowulf, Alfred the Great and a certain English heavy metal band from the 80s, this wine has a decidedly Saxon influence. Although the region Lechburg come from is small, its wine-growing traditions date back to the 13th Century when Saxons from the Rhine Valley and the Mosel first settled here. The imprint of Germanic tradition is therefore the distinctive character of the local viticulture. In fact, it was probably these Transylvanian-Saxons that first introduced Riesling into the region, something we’re very grateful for.

Lechburg Riesling is decidedly aromatic, the palate is deeply expressive with notes of lime peel, apricot, peach black tea and bees wax, supported by a typically racy acidity that fades into a charmingly mineral finish.
