The Oddbins Take

Jeff Carrel started his working life as a chemist and while he found it rewarding he grew tired of people of confusing his role with a pharmacist. In 1991, after the 28th person of the day wandered into his laboratory asking for fungal nail cream he decided it was time to make a change. He studied oenology, as he had a huge passion for wine and he could see no other industry the public could confuse it with.

28 years on, it is fair to say Jeff made the right decision, now one of Southern-France’s most renowned winemakers, he produces region defining bottles like Les Darons. A powerful Grenache dominant blend, rich with flavours of plums, blueberries and blackberries combining with notes of cinnamon and white pepper. It is bottles such as this that illustrate what an extraordinary winemaker Jeff Carrel is… So please stop asking him to prescribe steroid creams.
