We could say of Malbec grown in France; "the prodigal son returns!" However, we only recently learnt that 'prodigal,' isn't a compliment, adding new context to our relationship with our fathers! There’s also no reason Malbec should be male so instead of using that tired old cliché, we’ll use the metaphor of Arya from Game of Thrones returning to Westeros!

Originally, Arya struggled in here home nation, eventually leaving out of fear for her very existence. While few took her chances abroad very seriously, she flourished! Honing her skills, developing her personal brand and selling some cockles… (this metaphor is falling down like that big ice wall).

Malbec was driven out of France by Phylloxera, only to become one of the worlds most popular grapes when grown in Argentina. Now Malbec is back in France, with lovely floral and dark fruit aromas, fine tannins, a brooding intensity and a power that is sure to teach those treacherous Frays a hard old lesson! See, perfect metaphor!
Vallee des Aigles wines are made by Boris Kovac and Michael Goundrey, wines that embody the centuries old complexities of the regions wine growing history, the fresh air of the Mediterranean, and the deep mountainous soils.

24 years ago, Boris and Michael spent their first vintage together, making wine in the South of France. Since then they have honed their craft together across numerous wine growing regions around the world. This has been for both small private and large public retail customers.

It had always been their dream to one day create a small exclusive winemaking business for wine lovers who apricated their unique style of wines. Eventually, they settled in the Languedoc region of France and Vallee des Aigles (Catalan for Valley of Eagles) was born.

This is a small, modern winery perched high in the Roussillon hills above the village of Latour de France. The domain was purchased by Boris and a group of like-minded friends in 2010 and over the course of the next three years they built a facility capable of producing excellent, terroir driven wines from their own vines.
