Barbadillo Amontillado Sherry NV

'This porridge is too hot!'... 'This porridge is too cold!'... 'This porridge is just right.' So said Goldilocks, before being quite rightly evicted by three disgruntled homeowners...

Luckily for them she hadn't found their bottle of Barbadillo Amontadillo Sherry! We can't imagine she would have been so quick to find faults with this ones deep amber colour, complex aromas and dried fruit flavours. Mmm...this sounds just right to us!

A long established, family run business, Antonio Barbadillo is situated in Jerez Superior and its vineyards stretch over 500 hectares. The winery prides themselves on having state of the art facilities alongside ancient barrel halls which can store up to 35 million litres of Sherries.

The vineyards of Gibalbín and Santa Lucía are planted on albariza, a porous, chalky soil, particularly well suited to the cultivation of vines grown for the production of quality wines. The climate is mild with more than 3,000 hours of sun softened by the cooling influence of the Atlantic. These factors, together with a long winemaking tradition, allow for excellent ripening of the Palomino grapes and ensure a high degree of beaumé (level of sweetness) and moderate acidity.

The harvest takes place during the month of September during which time the Palomino grapes are carefully cut from the vines and quickly transported to new holding presses located in the vineyards. Once the grapes arrive at the modern winemaking plant a light pressing takes place.
