The grapes for Black's Station Malbec are grown in a little town called Zamora (no relation to the ex-QPR striker). However, back in the 1800s, this settlement was known as Black's Station. This is because the founder was named J.J Blacks and it was the 1800s, where any man could take a 4-month train journey 'west,' on arrival claim they found 13 grams of gold nearby, set up a small kiosk selling whiskey and you'd have your very own town to rule.
Things have moved on in this community from gold digging and typhoid and has been replaced with incredible winemaking. Black’s Station Malbec is testament to this, with a beautifully silken texture leading to prominent notes of blackberry cobbler and blueberry pie that give way to a touch vanilla and bittersweet chocolate on the finish.
Working with boundary pushing varieties and wine styles for the west coast of the US, this label has undoubtedly captured a piece of the frontier it was named for!
