There are plenty of things in the UK that should be revered as they are done better nowhere else on the planet. Like sitting in a pub, drinking London dry gin, while sarcastically undermining our friends critique of the works of William Shakespeare. "You think Hamlet might be imagining the ghost? That's original!" The British do that so well! However, not many would include wine on that list, in fact quite a few people might joke to you that 'English Wine' is an oxymoron (pretentious gits). Yet, trying Bolney Estate's Lychgate White may prompt a re-examination of the list of things the British do best; this fruity, zesty blend of Reichensteiner, Schonburger and Wurzer grapes has citrus, white blossom and jasmine aromas coming through. On the palate there are subtle notes of grapefruit, lime and elderflower along with green pepper, apple and apricot. A soft body with subtle acidity and length makes this very moreish.

Bolney Wine Estate is one of the longest established English vineyards and has been making award-winning English wines at its Sussex estate for over 35 years. The sandstone soils are some of the best in the country, providing the ideal setting to grow vines. The Bolney Wine Estate is a haven for wildlife and, through its traditional production methods and cultural practices, avidly promotes and maintains soil health, fertility and stability in its vineyards. The hand-picked grapes were whole-bunch pressed and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for around 14 days, blended and bottled without undergoing malolactic fermentation.
