Little wonder it's famously the perfect match for oysters - after all, what could be simpler than a delicacy taken straight from the sea and consumed raw, fresh and unadulterated.
Just a squeeze of lemon, perhaps a dash of Tabasco, and a well-chilled Muscadet, beads of condensation trickling down the wine glass. Ah, sometimes the simple things in life truly are the best...
The vineyards where the grapes for this muscadet are grown existed in Brittany very early in the Middle Ages. The Muscadet wine variety, originally from Burgundy, where it is called "Melon de Bourgogne” was planted in Nantes area in the beginning of the XVIII century, after having been destroyed by the terrible winter of 1709. The Muscadet variety received its recognition in 1936 when it became a wine with "appellation of origin".
