Abstract, photoreal, impressionist? A good bottle of wine can evoke images and memories. Perhaps Chateau Citran's supple smoothness could be the photos of Robert Mapplethorpe? Is it's floral aromas like Monet's sensory vision of his Lavender pond? Could the opposing array of black and red fruits resemble the ordered madness of Salvador Dali's dreamlike paintings? Chateau Citran is located in the appellation of Haut medoc, in the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. Bearing the local Cru Bourgeios quality status this 90 hectare vineyard grows Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Designated a historical monument heritage in 2012, the property itself carries a long history beginning as the seat of power and fortress site for the Donissan de Citran family for six hundred years. Which sold 1832 and passed through the possession of two French families (Clauzel & Miaihe) and more recently the Japanese holdings company Fijimoto. Currently joint owned by Groupe Bernard Taillan/Famille Merlaut. Producing 45,000 cases per annum.
