One of the glorious things about colder weather is that magical feeling you get when curled up indoors with the elements safely shut out. Preferably with an open fire and a cat. Beside said fireplace, there should also be an open bottle of Bordeaux like this one: Very typical of Haut-Médoc, well structured, with good ripeness, and lean complexity. A very classic expression from a brilliant vintage.
Château Croix du Trale is a family owned and managed estate located in Saint-Seurin de Cadourne in Northern St-Estèphe. In the winery, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are handled separately till the final assemblage. They are partially de-stemmed and then cold macerated for forty-eight hours prior to pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Once the final cuvée is assembled the wine spends approximately nine months in neutral oak vats and then a further three months in bottle before release. The wine is fined with egg whites.
