We don't do that many half-bottles of wine, as they don't always offer as much value for money as we'd like. However, they are a few exceptions to the rule, and we think we have a few of them here at Oddbins... such as Etienne Pochon's stunning Crozes-Hermitage. These people know what they're doing. They vinify grapes, from hillside sites, plot by plot, and it is this careful crafting that results in such a concentrated, earthy, warmly spicy beauty as this, that we'd happily stock if it was the size of a thimble.
Etienne crafts very elegant and surprisingly long-lived Crozes that are some of the best in the appellation. Etienne vinifies plot by plot from hillside sites, the best of which are separated for some ageing in oak barriques.
Crozes-Hermitage area is the largest appellation of the northern Rhône valley and it is here that Syrah is king. Loved and worked by the Romans, Syrah expresses itself beautifully in the more gentle micro-climate of Crozes-Hermitage.
