De Martino Legado Chardonnay 2015

The goats of the Limari Valley live the good life. The weather's a bit cooler, so they don't get too hot, there are cacti to scratch your itches on and hillsides to gambol up.

There was also an abundance of delicious grapes, until De Martino realised that those limestone slopes and that cool climate were perfect for making wine.

The goats got over the loss of the grapes though, because they found they love nothing better than putting their hooves up with a chilled glass of citrusy, mineral Chardonnay.

After working over 350 vineyards in their history, De Martino have selected the most prestigious and innovative vineyards for their Legado range. This wine is made with wild yeast and aged in old French barrels for 9 months. No eggs or dairy were used.

De Martino is one of the oldest family estates in Chile and winemaker Marcelo Retamal was chosen as Chilean Winemaker of the Decade in 2009. He takes grapes from the coolest part of the Limari Valley (Quebrada Seca), where the limestone soils add smokiness but maintain the freshness of Chardonnay.

A fresh and citrusy Chardonnay with a touch of smoke, flint and cream, this is beautifully balanced and pure.
