Guanacos* and flames, condors, rheas, scorpions, foxes and frogs. Just some of the images painted eons ago onto cave walls by prehistoric people in Argentina's Salta region after they first tasted the extraordinary wine of the area.

So moved were they by waves of plum and black fruit, by upfront pepper, tomato and spice, that they turned to those very things as art materials, using their pigments to describing wondrous visions on the rock. In just the same manner, this wine makes pictures on the tongue, on a base of equally wondrous stony minerality.

*A type of camelid. But you probably know that.

Domingo Molina, located in North Yacochua, Cafayete, is a family owned winery that is run by the Domingo brothers Osvaldo, Gabriel and Rafael.

Their vineyards range from 1,600 to 2,300 meters above sea level where they are subject to a special climate of more than 300 days of sun, scarce rainfall and varying temperatures which combine to allow for fantastic grape growing conditions. The brothers' collective professional backgrounds and extensive experiences in viticulture has enabled them to create a range of wines that display intense aromas and flavours, complex body and the good structure and balance that are all typical of the region.

Grapes for this red wine were manually harvested. They were fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10 years using native yeasts before being aged in 100% first and second use french oak barrels for at least 12 months.
