Eternum Viti Toro or "Eternal Viti Toro," of course referencing the formation of the 12th Century fountain of youth in Toro, north of Madrid. Historians of Medieval Spain largely agree that the fountain formed when a drug corporation dumped a large amount of waste multivitamins or "Viti" in the river Douro. Since then, the men and women of Toro have been damn attractive well into their 70s & their wine has never gone bad. This is why Columbus took Toro wines to discover America, or India or wherever that dude thought he was going.

In many respects, Bodegas Abanico have bottled a collision of generations. Young winemaker, Beatriz Paniagua has created a true expression of Toro but with a fresh youthful flair. The secret: very old vines and a delicate woman’s touch. Located in the valley of the river Guareῆa. The vineyards are spread over 30 hectares and the wine is made only from the Tinta de Toro variety, more commonly known as Tempranillo. The wine is made from vines that have an average age of over 50 years, contributing to the wines fantastic concentration. On the nose, the wine expresses seductive aromas of blackberry, bramble, black pepper and liquorice. A wine with a powerful mouth but still with silky & supple tannins. Enjoy with all red meats but especially roasted lamb, which is typical to the region, after all, what grows together goes together.
