What a life it must be, to be a lord. You get a nice estate, serfs to work your land and of course a delightfully hierarchical prefix to your name. What do you reckon, Marquess or Viscount? Definitely don't choose Baron, if you're picking a title you surely have to go for an esoteric one? This wine would have seniority though and rightly so; with powerful characters of gooseberries, lemongrass and elderflower, harmonising with a light body and refreshing acidity, 'The Little Duke' is clearly the rightful ruler of the Loire.

Domaine Henri Bourgeois, now in its 11th generation of the Bourgeois family, covers 72 hectares in the Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé appellations. This estate was started by Henri Bourgeois over 50 years ago, the vineyards lie on some of the most rugged hillside terrains, offering the best exposures in the Loire Valley. Though the family is forever striving to perfect their craft, they remain committed to Henri’s original viticultural vision of showcasing the purity of the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes and the unique beauty of the Loire Valley. The grapes come from the slopes of the Loire Valley formerly known as “The Garden of France” due to its temperate climate perfect for growing vegetables, and of course vines. The king of France used to have their castles and gardens there. This wine is remarkably aromatic with pleasant flower and fruit fragrances recalling the flower of the vine and the fruit of the sauvignon. On the palate, it reveals a freshness and vivacity characteristic of grapes harvested at good maturity. Citrus, apple and gooseberry aromas with hints of passion fruit are often found in this lively and bright wine.
