Fontein Ridge Chenin Blanc 2016

There are many fountains across the world that are famed for their superb structures and magnificent displays. This is one such fountain, or 'fontein'.

It wows the crowds with a fount of fruity flavours with ripe apricot, peach, pear and citrus streaming through the palate right through to the end of the show. It'll have you on your feet applauding before you realise you're stood in your living room and not at the Font de Canaletes.

The Fontein Ridge range is made by Overhex Wines International in South Africa's Western Cape. Willie Malan has been a winemaker at Overhex since 2004 and has achieved several international and national awards for his wines over the years. His winemaking experience started from an early age having helped his father with harvests when he was younger. Willie completed his studies in Elsenberg and has since completed vintages in both France and Germany.

Grapes for the Fontein Ridge Chenin Blanc are machine harvested from vineyards in Worcester and Breedekloof. The juice free runs into stainless steel tanks, where it is fermented for two to three weeks. The wine is then left to rest on the lees for two weeks at which point battonage takes place. It is then racked and left on fine lees until it is bottled.

This white wine offers intense flavours of ripe apricots, peaches, pears and citrus fruits that linger on the finish. It pairs well with a variety of fish and white meat dishes.
