Nick Cave to Kylie Minogue: "Do you know where the wild roses grow, so sweet, scarlet and free?" Well, Angelo Gaja the winemaker seems to have the answer. Just open this bottle, pour a glass and let it breathe for a while.

Then just enjoy the nose of mixed aromatic herbs & spices underlining the delicate notes of rose, leading to aromas of anise and wild fennel. Drink it with roast beef and it will offer some very generous flavours of berries and a savoury feeling too.

This is one of the most popular wines from the Piedmont region, don't miss it!

The Gaja winery was founded by Giovanni Gaja in 1859 and has been owned and operated by four generations of the Gaja family. It is in the town of Barbaresco which lies just northeast of Alba.

Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of Angelo Gaja, the winery’s current owner. The wine is named after the Gromis family, who owned the prized vineyard in the commune of La Morra throughout the 19th century. The Gaja family now owns this vineyard and, together with an outstanding Gaja-owned vineyard in Serralunga, which provides the grapes for this wine.

The soil of both vineyards is primarily calcareous clay and marl; altitudes range from 985 to 1475 feet above sea level and face south-east and south-west.
