Now to play a guessing game, were we referring to the Egyptian 'King of Gods' or Ben Glaetzer's succulent red wine? (Hint: it was both!)

With supremely rich aromas and flavours of dark stone fruits, hints of coffee, blackberries and a touch of cracked pepper, this dark purple Shiraz truly lives up to its name. The wines brooding complexity and multi-layered structure is simply captivating in an elegant drink that's fit for a Deity.

In 1888 the first Glaezters settled in the Barossa Valley having emigrated from Brandenburg, Germany, on board the Nord-Deutschet Lloyd steamer “Habsburg”. After a seven week journey, they reached their destination of Port Adelaide and settled in a town call Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley to start their new life in Australia. The family became some of the earliest recorded viticulturalists in the Barossa and Clare Valleys.

Moving forward a century, Colin Glaezter followed his ancestors winemaking roots and establishes the boutique family owned winery Glaetzer Wines, producing premium Barossa wines. Today his son, Ben, continues the family tradition at the winery.

Ben began work at Barossa Valley Estate whilst still at school and continued to work there during university holidays when studying winemaking at Adelaide University. Following his graduation, Ben worked in the Hunter Valley and travelled many wine regions across the world before returning to the Barossa to join the family company. Ben likes to blend traditional winemaking techniques with a more modern flair, which reflects well in the style of all of his wines.

Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz has a dark purple appearance and has a compelling nose of dark stone fruits, coffee and blackberries. The palate shows intense yet restrained flavours with dark fruit characters, hints of cracked black pepper, slight minerality and a great complexity.
