Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache 2016

Braveheart taught us that Wallace was a pint sized, foul mouthed Australian with limited skills as a face painter. Although Ben Glaetzer's Wallace is also Australian, it differs in almost every way from its rabble rousing namesake.

It is monumental in stature, quite charming in the mouth and, because of its deep rich colour, will paint your face with quite a serious red wine moustache.

Like Braveheart, this wine is good to go but it also has a fair bit of staying power if you fancy coming back to it in a few years.

Winemaking patriarch Colin Glaetzer established his own label to limited quantities of benchmark Barossa Valley reds. Today, his son Ben Glaetzer carries on his family winemaking tradition and has created a small, focussed portfolio of classic Barossa Valley reds with modern flair.

Ben Glaetzer graduated in winemaking from Adelaide University, after working at Barossa Valley during school and university holidays. Having worked in the Hunter Valley and travelled extensively throughout many of the world’s wine regions, Ben returned to the Barossa and joined the family company.

The exceptional fruit for all Glaetzer wines is supplied by a loyal group of third and fourth generation Barossa grape growers and comes from a small sub-region (1.5 sq miles) of the Barossa Valley called Ebenezer. The dry grown vines range from 30-120 years old and produce wines of great intensity and elegance.
