Rediscovery of Tokaji is perhaps one of the greatest things to come from the fall of the Berlin Wall, along with democracy, global cooperation and David Hasselhoff’s singing career. While under the USSR, wine was treated like a commodity with quality viewed as subversive and thus the knowledge of one of the finest wine styles in the world went into hibernation.
Over the last 30 years, Tokaji has returned and is back to its best. Grand Tokaj Aszú 6 Puttonyos is one of the greatest examples, made form 100% botrytized grapes, the wine has aromas of fresh dried apricots, spring chamomile blossoms, dried orange and tropical fruits. A long, full-bodied wine of great complexity with high acid and sugar content that is present in round balance and harmony.
