Hermitage Terres d'Arce 2020

The Hermitage Terres d'Arce is a distinctive deep garnet colour. Violet and liquorice come to the nose with a complex bouquet of aromas. On the palate, black fruit dominate, with blackcurrant, blackberries and strawberry jam aromas and ending with spicy notes. Violet, liquorice and packed with black fruit and robust tannins. 100% Syrah grown on 60 year old vines, from a prestigious south facing, chalky clay with quartz soils of Hermitage Hill. 

Michelas-St-Jemms aim is to produce subtle and authentic wines which are representative of the terroirs of the region. They use eco-friendly techniques avoiding herbicides and fongicides so as to encourage biodiversity in their vineyard. Yields are controlled by strict winter pruning and a green harvest in summer if necessary. Leaves are removed in late summer to allow the sun to reach the fruit and improve ventilation. All the crop is hand-harvested to ensure optimum quality.
Since 2014, Michelas Saint Jemms vineyard is certified « Haute Valeur Environnementale » (High Environmental value) and 2022 will be the first organic vintage (AB certified) after three years in conversion

Created by Robert and Yvette Michelas in 1961, the domaine is now managed by their 4 children: 3 daughters and a son. Sebastian is in charge of the vineyard management, Corinne and Florence work in the cellar and Sylvie looks after the estate's administration.
