For a long time, the beautiful town of Transylvania was troubled by an obnoxious coven of vampires. These were Bram Stoker vampires as well, not Twilight sparkly vampires. The town didn’t know what to do; a dim-witted gent by the name of Van Helsing confronted them with garlic but the vampires merely used it to properly season a mushroom soup. Van Helsing experimented with wooden stakes hoping this might vanquish them, but the vampires just appropriated them as tent pegs to secure their marquee that provided cover during their spring gala.

Nothing stopped the vampires from raiding blood banks, despite being offered red wine alternatives, they repeatedly spat it out, mocking the drinks quality. That was until Crama La Salina winery approached them with their Issa Pinot Noir. The wine was so palate-filling and rich of flavours of red berries, earthy-mushrooms and peppery spice, the vampires proclaimed they would drink nothing but Pinot for the rest of their days!
“La Salina” Winery was born in 2011, in the heart of Transylvania, in an area with a strong vocation for white wines. The Valley of Aries has a specific terroir that comes with its own characteristics, prevalent in La Salina’s wines. Starting from the passion of two wine lovers, Simion Muresan and Claudiu Sugar, the winery aimed to rebuild the wine-growing area of the Durgau hills.

In 2014 La Salina had its first harvest and the first wines were Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Shortly after the debut, the winery won its first gold medal with their Sauvignon Blanc at the International Wine Contest Bucharest and the silver medal at The Balkans International Wine Competition. And this was only the beginning!
