We had to sit down old uncle Bill Blustergun and explain that nowadays safari hunting can be somewhat frowned upon. Skulking in bushes, wearing silly hats and bravely brandishing high powered rifles. Then blasting the living daylights out of unsuspecting wildlife - it's not what a fine gentleman like him should be doing. So what should he do now? Join the new wave of hunters that seek fine rare ports. Stalking these creatures amongst the shelves of a good wine shop. Or if you're lucky, tracking them between the warehouses of Oporto - that's a much more noble endeavour! If you can chase down the fabled White Port let us know dearest Uncle. Just don't tell him Oddbins have got it - that way he'll be occupied for weeks. Tally ho!

Founded in 1638 Kopke claims the mantle as the oldest Port house in the market. This company has a special focus on the hallowed Tawny style of port. Wine making responsibilities are in the skilled hands of Carlos Alves . A native of the Douro born in 1982. Carlos studied agronomy at university, then mastered in oenology which led him to work for the Portuguese wine company Sogevinus. Here he has worked for the last 13 years and is now in charge of their port production at the Kopke estate. This company holds a vast store of vintage ports and they are world leaders in stocking the prized, aged tawny called Colheitas.
