This wine is like an onion. OK it won't make you cry, and it isn't spherical (bear with us here), but... it has the pretty pink/golden colour of onion skin, layer upon layer of crisp, mildly spicy loveliness and is the cornerstone of many a successful meal.

Don't try putting it on a wooden board and roughly chopping it à la Jamie Oliver, though; that would probably result in much pain, glass everywhere and will more than likely ruin most kitchen knives.

An Argentine wine specialist approached winemaker Boris Kovac in the Languedoc a couple of years ago, telling him he was looking for a Malbec and remembers “the surprised look on his face”. He knew they were Argentina specialists and probably thought that’s where their interest in the grape began and ended.

Up until that point Boris has only ever used his small plot of Malbec (just three hectares) as a blending component, as it can add colour, body and a certain beguiling perfume. He was happy and flattered to be asked to make a single varietal and they both feel the result has been a hit, and is getting better with every vintage.

Down in the Langudoc, in the Minervois region specifically, where Boris’s grapes are grown, the climate is warm, hot and dry, benefiting from very long ripening days and a pronounced thermal amplitude (the difference between day and night temperatures), which is all very comparable to Mendoza.

Le Malbec Rosé is a delicate 'onion skin' colour and has fresh grapefruit and pears on the nose, with a very zesty refreshing on the palate, finishing with nuances of wild strawberry and green apple.
