Libre Cours Rosé 2016
£10.50
"Libre Cours," roughly translates as free course. What's that about? Perhaps it captures the moment a waiter comes to your table and tells you the first course is on the house as the breadsticks were late and you think "gosh these guys have high standards, I thought the bread sticks were bang on time." Maybe it's the feeling that the journey is more important than the destination, like at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean when Jack sails off in no particular direction, saying, "now, bring me that horizon." You'd think someone who travels by water that often would understand you can't actually reach a horizon. Or maybe the translation is irrelevant and it's all about the refreshing notes of pink grapefruit and red berries, yeah that's probably it.
At the age of 21, Samuel Delafont was fascinated by the wine world. It was for him the best way to reconcile his two cultures, Scandinavian and Latin through exchanges and conviviality. Four years later, in January 2000, he created an export agency, Vinipartner, advising winegrowers of south of France to optimize their range of wines and develop sales. Samuel Delafont worked as a wine consultant for ten years, from 2000 to 2010. He Established Maison S. Delafont in 2010, having decided to create his own winery to highlight some of the best wines of Languedoc. His first releases were from Pic Saint Loup, La Clape and Limoux, and since then he has added a Minervois, an AOP Languedoc range and most recently the Vin de France range, Libre Cours. Maison S. Delafont is family owned and produces a total of 45,000 bottles per year. Libre Cours Rosé is made from a blend of 60% Cinsault and 40% Grenache and demonstrates a wonderful balance between fresh fruity notes of grapefruit and raspberries and a wonderful crisp acidity on the finish.
