Graffiti, much like wine, has a wide variance in quality. It can be so mind numbingly uninspiring, such as someone managing to misspell Thug Life, that it’s almost criminal… Other than the actual crime that is. Yet, then there are pieces of social commentary that change the landscape of political history, like a Banksy or the People’s Front of Judea writing “Romani ite domum.”

Longview’s Piece Project is dedicated to finding murals that are as nuanced and emotive as the wine that the artwork will adorn. Each vintage has a fresh piece of graffiti selected to represent the beauty expressed in Longview’s Shiraz; with bright blackberry, dark cherry, anise clove and black pepper flavours, this is no mean feat. Yet each year they manage it, they haven’t even had to call on John Cleese to correct a graffiti artists Latin.

Please spray responsibly.

Longview is a stunning, family-owned Adelaide Hills single vineyard located just outside the historic township of Macclesfield. Set on undulating slopes reminiscent of old world estates but with a clear Australian accent, it has quickly established itself as one of the most awarded vineyards in the region since its first vintage in 2001. Operations are overseen by brothers Mark and Peter Saturno, along with a small but specialised team. They ensure the vineyard is fastidiously managed to produce the finest fruit for their premium estate grown wines and provide a wine tourism experience that has placed Longview in the South Australian Tourism 'Hall of Fame'. With four-star accommodation, world-class events, picture perfect weddings and a brand-new tasting room and eatery, Longview is more than just an award-winning wine producer: it’s a unique destination that competes on the international stage.

The graffiti pieces that adorn the label are only the very beginning of the story. Longview has created limited, collectible art on the bottle and what's inside is equally so.

Every vintage, they take great care to isolate select rows of the best Shiraz fruit, then go a step further by hand-picking only perfect bunches based on flavour. The yields are small but the rewards are plentiful resulting in only 200 dozen of the best Shiraz they could make.
