Incredibly high standards of winemaking for the price. This is an astonishingly well-loved Oddbins favourite and one of the most regularly asked-after whites in the range. However such loyalty doesn't lean on the secure reputation of this appellation, it is this particular rendition from Cave de Lugny which has caught so much attention. You will be hard pressed to find better value. A great wine for soothing the hard edges off a tough day.
The Cave de Lugny is a major player in the Mâcon and southern Burgundy. The co-operative works with over 250 growers who between them own 1500 hectares in the region.
This unoaked Chardonnay is sourced from these diverse vineyards. The grapes are both hand and mechanically harvested before being gently pressed and fermented. The wine is matured on its lees in stainless steel vats for a minimum of six months during which time full malolactic fermentation can happen. Eggs and dairy are not used in the winemaking process.
