Manz Dona Fátima Jampal 2021

Dona Fátima is the result of a project to revive a long-lost grape and is only grown in one place on earth. This white wine is the work of producer André Manz, who bought a small vineyard planted with the unknown Jampal grape, despite being advised against it as 'the variety is good but the productivity is low'.

He continued, as he favours quality over quantity and it's a good job he did. With patience and TLC, André has coaxed out the variety's richly fragrant exotic fruit and underpinned it with gentle butter from the six months oak ageing.

The Manz family moved to the quiet village of Cheleiros, on the west coast of Portugal, in 2004 and immediately fell in love with the people and the landscape of a place famous for its hills, like Douro, and small land parcels like the Azores. From the locals, André Manz discovered the important wine tradition that had made the village famous in the 19th century and, following that discovery, the ManzWine project was born: to recover that tradition and reputation.

The rich bouquet is dominated by fruity aromas. Exotic and citrus fruits are predominant and it has captivating complexity aromas, revealing soft butter, vanilla and toast notes. On the palate it is velvety and aromatic with firm acidity. Clean and wonderfully fresh, it has a pleasant and lingering finish.
