It is said that you can't buy class, usually by an aristocrat upset that a member of the nouveau riche has turned up to a ball and used a luncheon knife to cut their halibut. "If he touches the caviar with a stainless-steel serving spoon I’m leaving!"

That’s what is great about wines such as Marchard Tawse Vire Clesse, it does not discriminate, no matter who drinks it, they will still experience the pronounced fruit profile of ripe peach, green pear and tinned apricot supported by a rich, creamy body and subtle oak notes of sweet spice and toasted cedar that resolve with a lingering mineral finish. You might not be able to buy class, but you can buy Clesse and that’s sort of the same thing!
This winery has a relatively modern birth for a Burgundian producer; Maison Marchand-Tawse was created in 2005 by the famous Quebec winemaker Pascal Marchand. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, this winery worked hard to become one of the rising stars of Burgundy and reach the highest quality level and a wide and complete range across both Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.

A joint operation between Quebec-born, renowned winemaker Pascal Marchand and proprietor Morey Tawse. Using biodynamic techniques, minimal intervention, wild yeasts and as little amount of manipulation as possible to allow the wines to express each appellation the grapes are grown in.

Marchand-Tawse's aim is to always be true to the terroir, in order to do this the winemaker has a light hand and adapts the winemaking and ageing to each specific wine. All the operations are performed according to the biodynamic calendar to take full advantage of the nature's rhythm and energy. The result are peculiar wines, elegant, pure and an honest picture of the terroir and vintage.
They make a range of outstanding wines from the terroirs of Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.
