The beauty and diversity of Italy! A nation that comprises so many different peoples, cities, customs, foods and wines. Yet such seemingly chaotic diversity comes order. Take this Sardinian wine for example- it's a broad selection of grapes that at first seem a bit random. Carignano, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. But it is a mouthful that's balanced in it's generosity. Jam, ripe red fruit, myrtle and juniper aromas march right into your nostrils. Then onto a full palate that's crammed with black-fruits, soft saline notes, rosemary and black pepper. A mighty morsel that proves these Italians are as diverse as they are generous.

We are proud to stock Agricola Punica, a Sardinian winery in Italy. It is a joint venture from the combined talents of Sebastiano Rosa;wine maker of Tenuta San Guido- producer of the famous Sassicaia, Antonello Pilloni, President of Santadi, and the late, legendary Tuscan wine consultant Giacomo Tachis. Established in 2002 this company bought two estates Barrua and Narcao- in South West Sardinia – an area known as Sulcis Meridionale. A broad diversity of grapes are grown. A majority of Carignano is used in the blends using various french grape varieties to express a broad spectrum of flavours.
