Niepoort Redoma Tinto 2015

Redoma is the perfect Douro ambassador and is often served with a towering pyramid of Ferrero Rocher. Well, that's not entirely accurate. But with a great balance of berry fruit and minerality, all bound up with spice, pepper and a hint of floral aromas, it's a great representative for the region. Try it with a game terrine and fruit chutney. Just don't spend too long trying to make a towering pyramid out of your terrine, it's not Ferrero Rocher. Crack on with the wine. Excellente!

Niepoort Vinhos was originally established in 1842 as a Dutch port shipper. Today it is run by the 5th generation, Dirk and Verena Niepoort, who now produce both fortified and non-fortified wines. Their main winery for creating their Douro table wines is Quinta de Napoles which was renovated in 2007. Niepoort works with the aim of producing niche and distinctive ports and Douro wines whilst combining traditional methods with innovation.

Dirk was born in 1964 and went on to disover the world of wine whilst studying in Switzerland. He joined his father, Rolf Niepoort, in the family business in 1987. Dirk has studied the making of wine across the globe and has established himself within the Douro region with the renovation of the Quinta de Napoles winery. He continues to craft wines in several of Portugals regions.

Niepoort Redoma Tinto offers fresh red fruit aromas with notes of spices and a subtle floral perfume. Notes of black plum and rockrose are revealed, typical of a classic Douro. The deep and complex palate shows mineral notes with light vegetal characters. It offers a firm structure and expressive tannins with a delicate and fresh acidity. This unique Redoma red provides a long, mineral and elegant finish.
