Think vineyards, and you think sun-bathed slopes, green canopies, and beautiful views. You'd be right, usually, to imagine that. But not with this wine. Many years ago, heavy fog coincided with harvest. The grapes were perfect, picking was scheduled, and Old Pecchenino was a stickler for ripeness. So he sent his team out despite the fog, or 'nebbia' as it is in Italian.

Picture, therefore, a misty hillside. Picking only by feel. The snip of pruning sheers. The self-contained bump of grapes dropping into wicker baskets... The harvest was brought in on instinct and faith, and rarely was a wine more delicious. So delicious, fresh and aromatic in fact, that from that day the Peccheninos wait for the fog. And only then harvest, on instinct and faith.

Established in the 18th century the Pecchenino estate began with a simply 8 hectares. The estate has since grown to the 25 hectares that stand today. They grow a variety of grapes including Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc with 65% of the production being Dolcetto.

Orlando Pecchenino and Consulting Oenologist Beppe Caviola use a guyot vine training system and all the work is done by hand. They use organic methods of viniculture, involving minimal spraying and strictly no insecticides. Green harvesting brings final yields down to about 55–60 q/ha.

Pecchenino Langhe Nebbiolo is an elegant expression of Nebbiolo. It is light and delicate with fruit, floral and light spice aromas. These continue on to the palate which expresses powerful tannins.
