After a chance meeting on a sommelier course the founders of Val di Sole, Guiseppe and Kyriaki, bought a hectare of abandoned Nebbiolo vines online with the vision to make their own wines. Only, they were both complete amateurs in the practice, with neither person originating from a winemaking background.

However with a lot of determination, tenacity and patience, they've proven that it doesn't always matter where your background lies as they transformed what was once a dream into a reality. Their once "shabby" vines have been nurtured and the fruit picked has been soft pressed and aged in various barrels to create this delicate off-dry rosé, with floral aromas and elegant red fruit flavours.
Val di Sole began when biologist Giuseppe Amato and electronic engineer Kyriaki Kalimeri happened to meet during a sommelier course. With a common passion and fascination for wine and its history, they started to study how to make wine too. As complete amatuers, they bought their first vineyard in 2015 on a website specialising in second hand things; half a hectare of abandoned and shabby Nebbiolo.

Today, they are continually experimenting with new and old practices to create unique and exciting wines. Their main principle for all of their wines is that from the vineyard to the winery, the only ingredient of their wines is the fruit. They follow strict natural practices throughout their processes, avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals.
