This beautiful red from Portugal's Douro Valley name is Post Scriptum. Meaning 'After' in latin. More commonly recognised in our modern (English speaking) written world as P.S. Postscript. It's more applicable to the days when most messages were hand written. Nowadays it an extra chance for a continued rant. Perhaps PS is the well-spoken cousin of the casual BTW? Anyway, this red is an assembly of high-quality grape varieties native to the Douro. This full-bodied red possesses a deep ruby colour and fine elegant tannins. Flavours sketched in dried fruits, plums, cherry and spices.
PS Put away the laptop, this wine is a letter written in a deep red calligraphic script penned on handmade paper.
BTW Some red wax, a medieval seal, and some cheese would finish off this missive nicely.
This Portuguese red wine is the result of a joint venture between the long standing Port producer- the Symington family and Bruno Prats, the former owner of Chateau Cos-d'Estournel in Bordeaux. Their aim was to make and promote premium unfortified red wines from the Douro Valley. In 1999 Prats & Symington Limited was established. The company released their first wine Chryseia in 2000. Post Scriptum is an addition to their range in 2002, as a high quality, more affordable 'second' wine.
