Prosecco Treviso Follador Extra Dry
£15.00
Old as the hills, the Follador winery. Giovanni Follador first blushingly received the Wine Quality Award from the 'Doge', or Duke, of Venice way back in 1769 and started a rather big, and rather tasty ball rolling.
His great, great, (great?) grandson, Gianfranco, is the one keeping the ball rolling today and boy does he know how to handle this ball.
Alright we'll drop the ball metaphor... this Prosecco has a charmingly fine, delicate mousse, with pure, subtle and fresh flavours of acacia, green apple and jasmine.
Since 1769, when Giovanni Follador received the Wine Quality Award from the Doge (or Duke) of Venice, the Follador family has humbly followed their passion, setting the standard for Italian wines made with great care and devotion. Follador is based in based in Col San Martino, in the heart of Veneto, the homeland of Prosecco. Col San Martino is famed for its superb wine-growing conditions, including an ideal micro-climate and the perfect soil composition of rock and clay.
Gianfranco Follador, a descendant of Giovanni, has been responsible for the winery’s change in direction towards sparkling wines. As one of the original 10 families in the Valdobbiadene area to move into the sparkling arena, Gianfranco, along with his wife Italia, have continued a tradition of quality, passion and wine making excellence. Offering tiny, persistent bubbles, full bodied flavour and a fine dry finish, they are the result of superior wine-making skills that has been passed down for more than two centuries.
This Prosecco is produced using the Charmat Method, in which the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in lined, stainless steel tanks rather than individual bottles. They are then bottled under pressure in a continuous process. No eggs or dairy products were used during vinification.
This DOC Prosecco has a bright straw colour, with particularly fine bubbles that form a fine and delicate mousse. There are pure fruity and flowery scents on the nose, with green apple, acacia flowers and jasmine on the palate. It is fresh and well-structured, with a pleasantly persisting flavour.
