Named after the Catalunyan revivalist movement that followed decades of suppression, Renaixença is proud of its identity and so it should be. It is an absolutely cracking example of just how good Cava can get. Remember, cava is made in the same method as Champagne and, as such, represents some of the best value fizz around. Bracingly dry, with lemony acidity and beautifully fine bubbles, this would go well with oysters or other salty seafood.
Produced in the warm hills of Vilafranca del Penedés, 40km northwest of Barcelona, that are tempered by the cooling Atlantic breeze, the Macabeo, Perellada, Xarel.lo grapes grow on sandy, clay-like, rocky soil, which is poor in organic matter and provides good drainage.
