Ruinart Blanc de Blancs NV Champagne
£69.00
Although apparently back into vogue, white stilettos still have a dodgy reputation. Police cars are turning silver because the white ones have a lower resale value. White tuxedos smack of trying too hard and can transform red wine into a perilous danger. And in the Bavarian fairy tale, Snow White messes around seven unwitting short fellows before running off with the tall guy. White, just isn't that classy is it?
Unless of course it's the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs: an illustrious Champagne made from only the finest white grapes, that spills over with citrus, honeysuckle, apricot and almond notes.
Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house, exclusively producing Champagne since 1729. The Blanc de Blancs is the Emblem of the Ruinart House style, as they consider Chardonnay to be the very soul of Ruinart. The grape, mainly harvested from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims terroirs, is at the heart of all their cuvées and they prize its vivacity, purity and luminosity.
The delicate, fragile Chardonnay reaches the full breadth of its aromatic richness after a slow maturation in the coolness of the Crayères chalk cellars. This maturation ‘is a test of our Cellar Master's skill, which required to tame the capriciousness of this grape’.
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs embodies the purity of the Chardonnay grape. Made primarily with Premier Crus from the Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs, it is intensely aromatic. The nose is powerfully reminiscent of fresh fruits, with dominant notes of citrus and exotic fruits, followed by a touch of jasmine, white peaches and pink peppercorns. This palate is both precise and clean as the wine delivers a radiant balance between roundness and smoothness.
