Luckily Feteasca is a benevolent Romanian grape variety and the visitor is revealed as the much loved, noble grape Chardonnay. Unified together behind these battlements they create a full bodied white wine endowed with concentrated mango and citrus fruits. Then matured in new oak barrels, in the bowels of this imaginary fortress, bequeathing powerful toast and vanilla flavours. A force to be reckoned with!
Cramele Recas is a Romanian and British company owned by three families. Launched in 1998 the team includes wine makers Hartley Smithers and Nora Iriate who have worked in Australia , Spain, Chile South, Africa and Zimbabwe. Now working 10 years in Romania creating fruit driven wines that reflect the local climate and traditions of the Recas area. Part of their estate includes land planted since Roman times. Making them one of the oldest vineyards in the world.
