You would be forgiven for thinking California is all pomp and no substance or as American's might put it "all sizzle, no steak!" From the grownups playing children on 90210, to the TV execs pretending that the OC was actually watchable; there is undoubtedly quite a lot that is fake in California. (That's without even mentioning the left-wing press, are we right? Woo, drain the swamp, MAGA, Trump 2028, something dog whistly! See, we could totally be from Virginia.)
Californian wine, however, is the real deal! Over the last 40 years, the American wine industry has gone from being a local curiosity to a global phenomenon. It's easy to see why, with wines such as Sunday Drive Chardonnay emerging from the golden state with penetrating aromas of Golden Delicious apples, lemon zest, and pineapple with hints of vanilla, crème brulee, brioche and, unlike the actors in the OC, this is a wine with real depth.
