Zinfandel is essentially a grape-based metaphor for the career of Ryan Gosling. In the early days, people only knew him for his work with an adolescent Justin Timberlake in the Mickey Mouse Club (that place turned out some talent, it was basically the American Neighbours). He was simple, easy to enjoy, unsophisticated and let's be honest sickly sweet. Just like the "White Zin" that so beguiled a section of the wine buying public for a while.
Then, out of nowhere, he's in Drive all brooding, dark, complex and intense but magnificently crafted. That's Zinfandel for you, it may be known for some questionable expressions but it can also deliver wines such as this, with powerful aromas of cherry cola, blackberry and cocoa with hints of raspberry jam, chocolate cake and black tea. By extension Zinfandel surely pairs very well with Emma Stone.
