Just like in the tale of the little girl and the 3 bears, that served as a poignant allegory about deforestation and human encroachment on endangered species' habitats, this wine sits happily in the middle.
In this wine region, Valpolicella sits at one end of the extreme as a light, fruity, easy drinking red. At the other end is Amarone, a powerful, full-bodied, high alcohol and uncompromising wine. If neither of those descriptors tickle your fancy, then we reckon Valpolicella Ripasso with be just right. Made from Valpolicella wines 'passed over' dried Amarone grape skins, this style is approachable with a red fruit freshness, yet expressing the complex dried fruit notes and smooth, full mouthfeel derived from the Amarone. A wonderful wine, we only ask you don't steal it from some bears.
