Too much of existence is mundane, predictable, formulaic or some other synonym intent on letting you know that nearly all Oddbins staff have read some Oscar Wilde and let it affect us rather severely. The fact of the matter is, life, like much of this tasting note, can be replaced by three simple words or rather one word repeated three times; Bla Bla Bla. Days can be spent without feeling challenged, in a miasma of routine. Wake up, Instagram sad breakfast, tweet Piers Morgan letting him know how unimpressed you are that he deliberately misunderstood some debate on This Morning, work, read Philip Larkin poems, bed. Then, something shakes you from the haze, like a wine so unique and so delicious you realise life is exhilarating and the world is beautiful… Cut through the Bla Bla Bla.
A new venture from the famous Anima Negra Bodega in Felanitx Mallorca. The project is all about the terroir of the vineyards, that all must have a coastal or mountain influence, local grape varieties & be true to their origins. Wines are made in Felanitx where the utmost attention to detail is given to the delicate old vine Mallorcan varietals. The winery originally was a dairy farm. Low yielding grapes from the Felanitx area in the South of Mallorca where the red soil & sea influence gives a unique terroir for these local grapes that are hard to find… They give a unique style of wine that needs to be cared for so the grapes are all handpicked into 10KG crates, manual selection for the grapes upon arrival at the Bodega and the use of dry ice and a cooling room to maintain the fine subtle aromas. Cool temperature maceration for approx 10 hours, very gentle pressing and de-stemming before the cool temperature fermentation in stainless steel at 16ºC. 4 months on the lees in the same cool temperature controlled tanks to enhance the unique flavours & minerality before bottling & further ageing in bottle for at least a month before release.
