Terrazas Selection Malbec 2016

When the Spanish set out for Argentina they took cattle with them. Little did they know the climate would affect the animals, filling them with wanderlust and energy. A dangerous combination, even for a cow.

In no time, a good number of beasts had escaped, and under a general spell of romance - this was the country of tango after all - made many, many more beasts. Soon, huge herds roamed the pampas. And with livestock comes dung. So much dung, in fact, that the very pH of the soil was altered*. Happily, however, the resulting soil was perfect for growing Malbec, like this moo-tiful, example.

The vineyards of Terrazas de los Andes are located in the heart of Mendoza's Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, surrounded by the high peaks of the Andes. The high altitude means that the grapes are subjected to warm, sunny days followed by cold nights that slow down the ripening process and limits acidity. As a result, the grapes that are grown on these vineyards develop intense and vivid flavours.

The Selection Malbec has an intense purple colour with shades of red. It is an expressive red wine with floral aromas and a red fruit profile of violets, raspberry and cherry accompanied by notes of toasted coffee beans and chocolate. The palate is treated to delicate tannins and finesse with a broad and sweet mouthfeel.
