The Chocolate Block - Magnum 2016

As soon as Chocolate Block lands you guys go all Augustus Gloop on us: lapping up that chocolate river like a cacao shortage has just been announced. Well, we can't blame you, it is awesome.

Willy Wonka went to great lengths to produce Magic Hand-Fudge, which "when you hold it in your hand, you taste it in your mouth". To be honest Boekenhoutskloof make it look easy, we can literally taste the Chocolate Block as soon as we start unloading it from the trucks.

MAGNUM SIZE.

This shows exactly how good a blend a can be. Rather than being limited to just one region, as much of the Old World is, Boekenhoutskloof take the best fruit from many different regions.

Syrah fruit comes from Malmsebury in Swartland where the vines really have to fight to get any water making them super concentrated. Grenache comes from the sandy soils of Piekenierskloof in Citrusdal, perfect for ripening this grape variety. Cabernet and Viognier come from Boekenhoutskloof’s organically farmed vineyards. And finally the Cinsault comes for from twisted old bushvines on Granite soil in Wellington.

Using these incredible parts, they then assemble an ultimate wine which is matured in 2nd and 3rd filled French oak barrels for 18 months, except for the Cabernet which is aged in new oak. Only 1035 barriques were made so grab it while stocks last.
